-saturated ground from stormy weather.

-warm morning caused a massive storm to occur by mid day.

-within a few hours a massive 5 inches of rain had fallen.

-the v shapped valley increased run off speed and the river burst it's banks and crashed down on bosworth

-the force of the water was enough to pick up cars and the bridge in bosworth collapsed causing a dam

-sewage and draining systems were old

it was under very exceptional circumstances and bosworth was not used to anual flooding, therefore they didn't have any flood control
