You get tips everyday, you don't have to sit at a desk all day if you have trouble staying still, and if you talk a lot then you can get away with it because you have to talk to your customers to get them to come back to you. You can be your own boss if you want by renting a booth and maybe even make your own schedule. You can wear your hair however you want with wild colors or normal colors. You can meet a lot of different people with different professions that might benefit you knowing them in the future. You can help a plain women look wonderful by enhancing her beauty and making her feel more confident.

I have been a cosmetologist for 11 years now. I have worked for two corporate salons and I have been renting a chair for the past 8 years.

The good thing about being a cosmetologist are making a difference in peoples lives on how they feel on the outside and in. I enjoy getting to know my clients and feel we have a great connection. I love doing new colors and hairstyles. It is a job that is always changing.

The bad thing that most people don't tell you. Most jobs don't pay you for vacations. If they do it is a very little amount. Health insurances if afford is horrible even in bigger salons. Long hour on your feet and little money. No retirement like 401 k. You most likely will be working a few nights a week and Saturdays. You will find hair in all the wrong places and in places you never knew it could be found there. Some people you will never be able to please and that's okay. They will move on. Your clients will come and go, they will move away and you will get new ones to replace them. But you can establish a good client tell with a little hard work.

I think that you would have health factors from Cosmetology by having all the chemicals all around you. The nail polish and nail chemicals. When perm or dye hair you have more chemicals.
