The Celts were animists. Animism is seeing the spirit behind all matter. Nothing is nothing and everything is everything. There is no such thing as coincidence and everything is connected. They were close to nature and had hundreds of gods and goddesses for every aspect of their life with nature, eg, fertility goddesses. Everything in nature, plant and animal, was special and had a meaning. There is an astrological zodiac with different types of trees for the signs. So, you may be an OAK and have qualities associated with that tree. The SUN was important and there are symbols of the sun on lots of Celtic remains. Also, they believed in life after death and reincarnation, the soul's immortality and the ability for the living and dead to meet each other at Samhain, the beginning of November or Halloween, when the veil between the two worlds is thin.
