The main parts of a Mosque are:

Inside:

• The prayer hall: this is where the prayers happen. The prayer hall is carpeted so that it's comfortable to pray on.
• Women's prayer area: Men and women pray separately. The women's worship area is a bit smaller and separated.
• Wash area: Muslims perform a ritual wash called Wudu prior to prayer.
• The Qiblah Wall: worshipers face the Qiblah Wall while praying, as this is the direction of Mecca.
• The Mihrab: this shows worshipers the direction of Mecca.
• The Minbar: this is an elevated area where the imam delivers the service.
• The shoe rack: Muslims and visitors to mosques must remove their shoes in the hall. This may also be located outside for people to remove shoes before they enter.

Outside:

• The minarat: a tower on the Mosque. This is for the call to prayer.
• The domed roof: This serves 2 purposes. It allows air to circulate (since it's generally very warm in the Mosque). It also helps with acoustics, as it amplifies the voice of the imam.
• The Star and Crescent Moon: You'll usually see this somewhere on the outside of the Mosque. It is the main symbol of Islam.
