one of the main problems was that Germany had to pay the allies a huge sum of money, and the Germans attempted to simply print large quantities. but this caused hyperinflation (serious inflation) and caused German money to be practically worthless. some found their life savings weren't enough to but a loaf of bread. there was also restrictions on Germany's armed forces, and Hitler took over and was cruel to the Jewish population in Germany.

The Balkan region was actually known as the Powder Keg of Europe prior to the start of World War I. There was increasing tension between the countries in the region, and growing nationalism.
