There are NO pros for cruelty to birds and animals.Although some say it is a community activity, the people involved could use their time, energy, and betting monies in more useful and constructive ways.

The the cons are enormous and numerous:

• the birds are surgically altered
• a metal claw is implanted onto the bird
• birds may be injected with hormones to cause increased aggression
• birds fight "to the death"
• however, more birds are first mortally wounded and are left to suffer, unattended, until they naturally die
• this type of "sport" is a COWARD'S SPORT
• birds used in fights have no normal life OR normal lifespan
• birds cannot socialize with other birds, because they will kill each other even when no human is present
• birds can never be rehabilitated, so if Human Society Agents or Law Enforcement finds a fight site, ALL the birds will be destroyed (killed)
• because of hormone use, these birds cannot be consumed--eaten by humans
• bird fighting encourages a passive indifference to the suffering of animals
• bird fighting encourages mistreatment and abuse on innocent animals
• bird fighting encourages an underworld of excessive gambling and associated violence among humans
• bird fighting decreases property values
• bird fighting results in property destruction-- often, basement walls are so covered in blood that cities can only demolish the building
• bird fighting encourages an attitude of quick money despite the savagery-- a mindset which can become turned toward all life
• bird fighting is simply cruel, needless, and horrid
