Pros of public schools include accessibility to a wide range of resources and services, such as extracurricular activities and special education programs. They also offer diverse student populations, fostering socialization and cultural awareness. However, cons may include larger class sizes, less individualized attention for students, and potential lack of flexibility in curriculum.

I have experience first hand with this. As I have taught in both sectors and had the choice for my own child. First of all, each parent should decide "why" they are going in each direction. This is a good way to light the tunnel so to speak on being in the dark with the choice. It is more important as to "why" you send your child to certain school that any other factor. For us, that answer, was that she could learn about God and He be incorporated in the teachings. So with that being said, we chose a private Christian school. However, she did attend public school very early on and the choice came later due to some problems occurring with that public school. She seemed to be developing low self esteem and has some problems socially. Here is my break down:

Private School:

(Pros)

Low Student-Teacher Ratio

Christian Curriculum and 25 year proven curriculum.

Attentive Administration

Peers/Staff with same beliefs

Happier Child

Higher SAT scores

Better Social Experience

Cons:

Price

Teacher Quality may be different or varies

Public School:

Pros:

Free

Has more to offer in terms of resources

Teachers are certified ( however, this means very little if the talent is absent)

Cons:

High Student-Teach Ratio

Non-Attentive Administration

Not personal

Lower SAT scores

More germs

Bad social experiences

Curriculum is copied and there is no solid "years" of testing the curriculum. Always changing.

Non-Flexible attitudes

Stress

So as you can see the private school won out in the "pros" department. This was my own personal list. I would advise you all to do the same. Good luck!
