The pros of using chain of command is that everyone knows exactly what his or her responsibilities are, and who they are supposed to answer to. The cons include a rigid structure which discourages innovation and initiative, and an inefficient workplace with managers only knowing the department they are responsible for, as opposed to the running of the entire company.
