Copyright is part of the Intellectual Property rights. A copyright is a property right in an original work of authorship that is fixed in any tangible medium. Some examples are plays, films, photos, paintings, books, magazine articles, music, etc. It gives the holder the exclusive right to reproduce, adapt, distribute, perform and display the work. Federal copyright law in the US is governed by the Copyright Act of 1976- 17 USCA sections 101-132.
