Your destination is the town of Coffinwell. The map you're deposited on north of the checkpoint, Eastern Coffinwell, will direct you towards the Coffinwell settlement in short order. If you take a look at the map, you'll see Coffinwell pretty easily at the northern end of the map. All that you have to do is physically travel there. Keep in mind that the guy at the checkpoint we mentioned earlier wasn't kidding. You'll run into several new enemies here (Leafy Larrikins, Badger Magers, Chariot Chappies and more), and they all pack a powerful punch. Should you choose to spend some time on the world map, your health is inevitably going to whittle down quicker than it had earlier in the game. Be prepared to rectify that situation with some curative spells (or items, should you prefer) as needed. When you arrive at Coffinwell, you won't find a bright, bustling, happy-go-lucky city. Then again, with a name like Coffinwell, that might not exactly surprise you whatsoever. Something's going on here, but just what exactly is it? Well, let's find out. As you speak to people in town, you're going to learn that Coffinwell was actually once a happy and healthy place, but recently, a long-dormant disease has begun to ravage the townsfolk. This disease wreaked havoc on Coffinwell a hundred years in the past, but now they're dealing with it again. Thus, the people of Coffinwell have a few separate problems to deal with. Firstly, how do they deal with the disease, and how will they cure it? And secondly (and perhaps more interestingly), just why has this disease returned? You will meet Dr. Phleming after a bit of poking around and he thinks he knows how to stop this disease. He will ask you to go with him to Western Coffinwell to join him on an excavation When you arrive at the entrance to the temple at the far northern reach of the Western Coffinwell map, you can head through the simple entrance to reach the temple's interior. There, you should run headlong into Dr. Phlegming. The good doctor will join your party hereafter (though he won't be an active party member). You'll then get to finally explore the Quarantomb (as this location is so cleverly known as). Right in front of you, you'll see the seal that once kept the curse at bay shattered on the ground, exposing a gaping entrance for you and your party to exploit. Unfortunately, the earthquake that destroyed the seal almost certainly let the curse out as well. Hopefully, there's something we can do about this presently, because this is quite the problem for the people of Coffinwell. As you enter the first level of the Quarantomb from there, you'll find a gigantic area on the map laying over the top screen of your DS. At the center of this area, due north of the southern entrance, you'll find two doors sealing the small circular room off. A blue door with a blue gem in it, and a red door with a red gem in it are stymieing your advance. But believe it or not, this isn't some ornate puzzle that you have to figure out how to solve. It's actually quite simple to get around. But before you try to solve it, why not take a quick look around? You'll find horizontal and vertical corridors neatly intertwined with one another in a city-like grid. And it's this grid you are to explore. You will meet the Ragin' Conatagion and you will have it fight it (him...her?) After tasting sweet victory over the Ragin' Contagion in the previous battle, you should be able to relegate the evil curse-laden creature back to its jar. Because Dr. Phlegming was able to properly repair the jar, it will easily contain the foe, which should lift the curse back in Coffinwell. Hopefully, there hasn't been too many new illnesses or outright casualties and fatalities back in town since you departed. Following the cutscene after the battle, you'll regain control of your party. It's time to leave the Quarantomb... well, almost. Before you scurry out of the Quarantomb to head back to Coffinwell, why not walk down the stairs directly ahead of you? You will have seen Dr. Phlegming go down there, and you should follow him. Unfortunately, while you won't find any items down here or much else of interest, you'll still be able to follow-up on the doctor's new research. You'll even find a ghost roaming around down here, though when you speak to him, you won't learn much except that he doesn't know who he is. Perhaps we will be able to rectify this situation sometime soon? After all, you're sure to come back to Quarantomb in the future, even if it's only to fight those experience-heavy Metal Slimes roaming about the place. After your final encounter with the scientist and the mysterious ghost in Quarantomb's basement, head back upstairs, and run southward back towards the temple's entrance. You should find yourself back on the Western Coffinwell world map before very long. Travel back to Eastern Coffinwell, and then return to the village. We'll finally be able to see if we helped the people of Coffinwell overcome their cursed illnesses or not. Let's hope for the best! When you arrive back at Coffinwell Village, you're going to find a happy, elated scene. At least for the time being. Be sure to let the home of Catarrhina and Dr. Phlegming be the very last place to visit. Go to all of the other buildings and speak to everyone else in town first, but don't go to Dr. Phlegming's home. After you've spoken to everyone else here, and visited all of the other buildings, you should then head to the scientist's home. Unfortunately, when you do, you're going to find a rather sad scene. While everyone else in town is feeling great, well-healed and ready to go about their business, Catarrhina lies in bed, still as a corpse. Unfortunately, she has died. She has the curse all along, but never said anything about it, nonetheless to her ungrateful and aloof husband. Dr. Phlegming is distraught, obviously, but that pales in comparison to how the mayor of town, Catarrhina's father, feels. After you find Catarrhina's corpse, you will bear witness to her wake at the town's quaint graveyard. Mayor Laria is absolutely beside himself, even more than he would be because her daughter's husband, the doctor, didn't even show up to the ceremony. Is he too sad to be there, or is he too wrapped-up in his own world to even remember or care? Either way, everyone in town seems awfully disappointed in Dr. Phlegming, who, for a brief time, was considered a bona fide hero. After all, he mended the jar that put the curse back in its place. Things should now be all well in Coffinwell (pardon the unintentional pun). Though Catarrhina has passed away, the town seems resigned to accepting Dr. Phlegming. And if you take the time to explore the town after your interaction with Catarrhina's ghost concludes, you'll find that the people of the town are feeling good again. You'll even learn that Phlegming and Mayor Laria have made amends somewhat, though things are still a bit cold between them. But now, our adventure will take you away from Coffinwell...
