Good planning is crucial aspect of effective teaching. Teachers need to have clear ideas about there lesson they wish to set up and to have carried out the necessary preparation if it is to be successful. Three main elements are involved in planning a lesson. First is the need to consider the general aims and specific educational outcomes the lesson is intended to achieve. The second element, once the context (e.g. the type of pupils, the schools resources) and desired learning outcomes have been taken into account, is to consider what will be the most effective learning environment, activities, and sequencing of these. Third is the need to monitor and evaluate pupils educational progress, so that the teacher can assess whether the lesson has been successful.
