The first Toyota 4Runner was introduced in 1984 as the 1984 1/2 models. It was nearly identical to the Toyota Pickup mechanically and was primarily different from the cab back. I found recalls for every year from 1988 to 2003, but I did not find any after that. Some of those recalls were minor issues and others more significant.
They have several recalls on the Rav4, but they are based on different year models. Some of the recalls are for improper equipment labels. Another recall is for airbags not being assembled and packed properly. They also have one for the brake system not functioning properly.
