The stamen is the main male organ and the carpel (pistil) is the female. The anther is a part of the stamen that holds the pollen for fertilization. The filament holds the anther up. On top of the carpel, the stigma receives the pollen for fertilization and then goes down the style into the ovary where the ovules (eggs) are kept. When the ovules are fertilized, they become seeds.
