To run for the state senate in Ohio, you have to be a resident of the district. You must have been a resident for the 12 months preceding the election. Also, unless a new apportionment plan has been implemented, you have to be a registered elector. In cases where a new apportionment plan has been put into place, you have 30 days to change your residence.
