You might want to consider becoming an ultrasound technician (also known as a sonographer). An ultrasound technician will take diagnostic ultrasound pictures of a person’s body using a machine that sends high frequency sound waves into the area being examined. These pictures are then given to the doctor for examination. An ultrasound technician will generally specialize in a certain field such as mammography, cardiovascular, abdominal, gynecological, obstetric or neurological. In order to get a job as an ultrasound technician, you will need to get the proper training and education from an accredited ultrasound technician school. Ultrasound technician courses can be taken either locally or online. You can expect to take anywhere from two to four years to complete your educational program. Upon completion, you will have earned either an associate’s or bachelor’s degree. Most ultrasound technician schools will want you to have some background in chemistry, biology, anatomy and physics prior to enrollment. Attending an ultrasound technician school program will enable you to learn medical terminology, anatomy of the heart and body, how to conduct vascular, obstetric, gynecology and abdominal ultrasounds and how to properly use and clean ultrasound equipment among many other things. Firstly you must do a cousre at university called "radiography" which is a 3 year course that involves the study of X-rays, MRIs etc. You must then specialise in sonography. That answer is not accurate. You do not need to major in radiography to be an ultrasonographer. There are programs out there that are specifically ultrasound majors.
