Virtually none.

Additional: They can be utilized anytime an officer feels he must resort to the use of non-lethal force. Tasers are a non-lethal weapon designed to replace the use of police batons (aka: nightsticks), blackjacks and sap gloves. Actually they are proven quite safe and if I was going to resist an officer, I for one, would rather be subdued by a Taser than run the risk of having my head bashed in by the over-enthusiastic application of one of the other alternatives. Tasers ain't fun (I know - I had to take a hit from one) but considering the alternative. . at least you're still alive and your brains aren't scrambled.

The specific rules of engagement for using a taser may vary depending on jurisdiction and organization policies. Generally, the use of a taser is governed by principles such as necessity, proportionality, and reasonableness. It should be used as a means to gain control over a non-compliant or potentially dangerous individual, with the intent to minimize harm and maximize safety. Law enforcement officers are typically trained on when and how to use a taser in accordance with their departmentโ€™s guidelines and the law.
