yes.It lets you fly. To get it, you must beat the story mode. Then, go to the top of the tower . Along the way, there should be a green platform with a red beam of light. Step on it. You will be teleported to an isolated "island" in the sky. There should be a little White House with a blue roof. Go in. It should be called 'The Gate'. Go up the little white 'colloseum' looking thing. Go towards the princess standing on top of it. A cutscene will show. Then a red Luma will give you the red star. If you collect the 100 purple coins, he will give you the star to use. However, it can only be used at the, uh, space thing that the lumas live on. There will betwo red stars. One on top of the Library, another near the Toads' machanical mushroom. Hope this helped.
