The grassy plains are called "Llanos". In other areas of South America they may be called "pampas".
In south America plains are called Pampas.
The traditional cattle rearing people of South Africa were called Xhosa. The Xhosa lived mainly in the southern part of Africa because it was better land to raise cattle.

That would probably be the Canterbury Plains in the South Island.
