Some effects of anorexia are... *Weight loss *Dry / flaky skin *Hair loss, discoloration, thinning, and/or loss of "shine" *Fainting *Dizziness *Sensitivity to the cold *Organ problems / failure *Low heart rate / blood pressure *Depression *Dressing in layers ot hide weight loss / stay warmer *Growth of thin, "peach fuzz" hair, called lanugo Note - These are only a few side effects. Those who suffer from anorexia may experience some or all of these factors. Certain ones can come and go, while others may never appear at all in a ceratin indiviual. Also, just because a person exhibits one or more of the signs, it doen not always mean that that person specifically has anorexia.

There actually isn't much chemistry behind it, at leat none that is truly known. Mostly, anorexia is considered a mental disorder with physical manifestations. The basic chemistry is that the mind is convinced it that the body needs to lose weight (which it usually does, along with other side effects and incidents), and that is does not want the body to eat.
