Mauritius has many social problems that are affecting the country and its people. Some of these social problems include drug and alcohol usage, civilians distrust of police and corrections officers, and the massive amounts of tourism that takes place in the country.

these children are often victims of social ills like crime, robbery and several others

About 8,950 deaths are expected for the year 2011, resulting in a crude Death Rate of 7.0, as compared to 7.1 in 2010.
