A speaker is a made of a wire coil around a permanent magnet. there two flex mashed wires that join the coiled wire to the terminal connections of the speaker. In most cases, it is this flex wire which breaks. It may aswell be the coil itself which has a dry joint (loose connection) or the wire from the Audio system to the speaker has a dry joint.
