The pope is the head of the Catholic Church. He guides us through the Church life and does the best he can to preserve Jesus' Church. the pope is a cardinal elected by the college of cardinals whenever a pope dies. a bishop is still the same as a cardinal although he cannot be elected as a pope. under the bishops are priests working in each bishop's diocese.

In denominations like Baptist, Methodists, etc., the ministers are the leaders of individual churches.

It depends on the religion. Catholic priests, protestant ministers and pastors, Muslim imans, Buddhist lamas. Many leaders of religions that are not well known in the English speaking world are called priests in English. Jewish rabbis. The term shaman tends to be used for a leader in an indigenous tribal religion, particularly if their belief system is animist. And then there are words like cantor, someone trained in the musical and liturgical traditions of a religion, regardless of the religion. Catholics and Jews sometimes have cantors who lead significant parts of services.
