The Northwest Ordinance was an act that created the Northwestern territory which includes the now states of Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin. It also covered the states of Michigan and Indiana.
Northwestern States Mission was created in 1897.
Thomas Jefferson wrote the Land Ordinance of 1785 which divided the Northwest Territories into 10 states. Ohio was the first of these states, soon followed by Indiana and Illinois.
