Using Word, you choose Envelopes and Labels from the Tools menu. Type the address into the box. Then, look closely at your printer to find out how to place the envelope so it will get printed. Usually, you will use the bypass feeder and the print function of your software will do the rest.

This is a perenial problem! The technique depends on your word processor; most have special facilities for printing envelopes. You don't mention the word processor you're planning to use, so I can only give guidelines: First, choose known envelope sizes; in Europe we use 'C' sizes for envelopes - they corrospond to the 'A' series of sizes for paper. Depending on your printer, you may have to choose envelopes which are designed for printing - if the envelopes aren't designed for printing they might damage the printer. In the word processor find the envelope printing option (it may be called labels and envelopes). Configure the word processor with the envelope size you have. You will probably need four envelopes for the trial; enter a test address, load an envelope into the printer and try printing it. It's likely it will be upside down or back to front (or both). Repeat the last step until it comes out the right way round; make a careful note of the way the envelope went into the printer! If you print lots of envelopes, stick the note to the printer. An alternative is to use a label printer; these are small printers that are designed to print sticky labels - this makes it easy to print addresses for all kind of envelopes and packages.

Why does your canon mp530 smudge when printing an envelope?

Before printing the envelope you need to go to the printer's options and select "envelope" from the drop-down media typelist. If you are using Word 2007 envelope printing it will go directly to printing without letting you confirm the printer and media type setting, using the last setting, so make sure to change it while the document is still onscreen, then "close", then do the regular "mailing" stuff. The envelope is way down the list of media type selections after "transparencies". It fixed the problem for me.
