1. Obtain an undergraduate degree

2. Near the end of your undergraduate career, Register with the Law School Admission Council

3. Sign up to take the Law School Admission Test

4. Take the LSAT

5. Apply to Law School

6. Attend Law School, focus upon criminal law

7. Near the end of Law School, go through the rigorous process of applying to become a member of the bar in the state of your choosing.

8. Graduate from Law School

9. Take and pass the bar examination

10. Obtain a job as a criminal defense attorney

Altogether, this process shouldn't take you any longer than seven years, provided you pass the bar the first time. Take my advice; don't do it; start a farm.
