Hyundai 2004 GETZ stereo wiring.

Cut off the original stereo wiring harness if you are going to install the stereo yourself without the aid of a harness adaptor for your make of stereo.
Now here are the colours and what they are for:

POWER:

THICK BLACK = GROUND
GREEN/BLACK STRIPE = +12VOLT energised when ignition is in ACCESSORY position
THICK BROWN = +12VOLT DIRECT BATTERY

ILLUMINATION: (some stereos won't use this)

PINK = ILLUMINATION (+)

GREY = ILLUMINATION (-)

SPEAKERS:

RED = FRONT RIGHT NEGATIVE (-)
BLUE = FRONT RIGHT POSITIVE (+)
GREEN = FRONT LEFT NEGATIVE (-)
ORANGE = FRONT LEFT POSITIVE (+)
CREAM = REAR RIGHT NEGATIVE (-)
LIGHT BROWN = REAR RIGHT POSITIVE (+)
YELLOW = REAR LEFT NEGATIVE (-)
THIN BLACK = REAR LEFT POSITIVE (+)

To remove the stereo, place a flat head screwdriver under the bottom of the black/ carbon fibre fascia (around the air con, stereo and hazards lights) and pry it out from the bottom. You will need to use some force to do this. You will have to disconnect the hazard light switch and the unused switch below it for the dash to come out far enough to access the screw holding the original radio in. Try not to lose the 3 white plastic clips that hold the fascia into the dash, or it will not go back in properly. Also be careful not to pull the fascia out too far as you will pull all the air-con cables out of place and the controls will not work.

Alternatively, if you do not want to replace the housing around the stereo, you can just slide the stereo out. Firstly, remove the plastic frame around the front of the stereo. It should clip off easily with a fingernail or flat screwdriver. The clips are on the sides, not top or bottom. The stereo itself is held in place by metal wings on each side, about an inch from the front. You can disengage them by getting two 30cm metal rulers and sliding one down each side of the stereo. In order to reach around behind the stereo to push it out, remove the 2 plastic/rubber stops that prevent the glove box opening right out. Now you can swing the glove box right open and reach in behind the stereo. With some luck, you should be able to leave the 2 rulers in place and slide the stereo out.

Your new stereo will have different clips that will not fit the old housing, so this way the stereo will just fit in the slot rather than being clipped in.
