the strap that secures the winter blanket to a horse under the belly is of course called the belly strap! and the part behind the but and in front of the tail is the tail strap and the front were it hooks together is the closer strap or the buckle strap! Hope this helps!
I think you mean the reins
They are reins.
you can't. the blanket will only go on your horse when the horse is sick.
You should blanket your horse in the winter months if you are located in a cold area. You can also blanket your horse on nights before a show in the winter but its mostly recommended you put the horse in an available stall.
If you blanket a horse at the beginning of Autumn then it has to stay on until warmer weather comes around again as the blanket prevents the horse from growing it's winter coat. Without the the natural hair coat or the blanket the horse could become susceptible to influenza. You can also blanket a horse with a thin blanket in the summer. This keeps the flies away and prevents the horses coat bleaching in the sun.
it depends on the weather, season, and the kind of blanket
You can put a heavy blanket on a horse in the winter to help keep the horse warm and keep dirt and mud off. Also you can keep a very lightweight blanket on the horse in the summer to keep dirt, dust, and mostly flies off your horse.
Reins
They were used to close the horse blanket around the horse. It's a giant safety pin. Used before velcro and leather tabs with buckles.
Measure your horse from the middle of his chest to the middle of his tail. The number of inches will be the blanket size.
A horse should be ridden with a saddle blanket all the time to avoid discomfort for the horse. If you dont ride with a saddle blanket it could injure the skin on your horses back and rub his fur off.
Winter I should imagine.
A horse blanket...? :/♥
A horse should have a blanket in fall or winter to keep it warm.
