Osteomalicia is a disorder in which bones soften due to a deficiency of vitamin C. It may have no symptoms in the beginning, but will eventually cause a dull aching pain, usually in the lower back, hips, ribs, legs, and pelvic bones. It will also lead to muscle weakness, stumbling, altered gait, and difficulty performing normal everyday activities.
