Osteomalicia is a disorder in which bones soften due to a deficiency of vitamin C. It may have no symptoms in the beginning, but will eventually cause a dull aching pain, usually in the lower back, hips, ribs, legs, and pelvic bones. It will also lead to muscle weakness, stumbling, altered gait, and difficulty performing normal everyday activities.
Three of the most common bone diseases in older patients are Osteoporosis, in which the symptoms include suffering a fracture, Paget's Disease, which symptoms include bone or joint pain, and a deformity of the bones or joints, and Osteomalacia, which symptoms are pain in the bone, weakness, fragility, and fractures.

So your areas of the body where osteomalacia is occurring is weaker and more prone to break easily. Which can lead to disabilty and can be life threatening due to some causes of osteomalacia such as, hypocalcemia or low-blood calcium levels. Hypocalcemia can lead to irregular heart beat and rhythym, which leads to heart failure. Other life-threatening complications can also be associated with osteomalacia.
