a mercenary is a soldier for hire, they do not belong to an army of any country. though many mercenarys are ex soldiers. that is how most of them got their training in combat is by being in the military. most men that become mercenarys do so after they get out of the military. they miss the sting of battle. so they join a mercenary group, so they can get back into battle, plus to have a way to make a living, to make money. becoming a mercenary is not what i would call a legal thing to do, or hiring a mercenary team is probably a legal thing to do in most countries. but it does happen, and there is a need for mercenarys. for example: lets say that you and your family went to south America on vacation. you get down their and are having a good time and bad people take everyone in your family hostage. doesnt matter who they are, drug cartels, street gangs, clans, terriost. if you are able to find out somehow where your family was taken by the bad people, most of the time bad people will contact you with ransom demands where they demand money for the safe return of your family . if you decide you don't want to pay ransom, or cant pay large ransom. this is where a mercenary can be used. most 3rd world countries have mercenarys. you canhire mercenarys to go in and get your family back for you. they go in as an armed force, and will engage in combat if nessary to bring them back out to you
