Because of the way rivers are measured, different sources will give you different lists of the longest rivers. There is an ongoing debate whether the Nile or the Amazon is the "world's longest river". A river is normally measured from its source to its mouth, but determining the source can be very hard especially when two tributaries merge to form another river. Is the merging the source, or is the source at the start of the longest tributary? Until geographers all agree this answer will be open to debate.
It is possible that the Amazon will be considered the world's longest river following a series of conferences among organizations. Until this is announced officially, we will still quote the Nile as the longest river. Below is a list of the ten longest rivers as they stand, as of December 2009.

9. The Amur-Argun system at 2,763 miles, (4,444km)
10. The Lena at 2,736 miles, (4,400km).
