The twin city of Ernakulam is an active commercial centre surrounded by many isles of Fort Kochi, Vypeen, Willingdon island and Bolghatty island. Ruled by Chera kings and may foreign rulers - Portuguese, Dutch and English, the city is studded with churches, museums, palaces and other places laden with historical value.
