This depends on what type of riding you do and how often. You'll need a set of tack which should include a saddle and it's fittings (Leathers, Irons, Girth.) A saddle pad, a bridle with reins and a bit. Then you'll need somewhere to ride the horse. For the rider you'll need heeled riding boots, jeans or long pants, a certified helmet and possibly gloves to prevent blisters.
A good rider doesn't need any equipment, they can ride a horse bareback. However, a bridle and saddle are the usual equipment along with a helmet if you are riding English
pretty much just need the horse.
But it does help if you have riding boots and a helmet.. for your own safety ofcourse and also a saddle, bridle and numnah
You should have some brushes and a hoof pick to groom the horse with and a saddle and bridle (unless you're riding bareback.)

What you need for a pony is the same this as you need for a horse. Some things are: Saddle (english or westen) Girth, Bridal (english or western) brushes, hoovepick, saddle pads, halter, leadrope, food, stable and a big field for it to run and exercise (and to ride it) treats (optional) mounting block (optional) I have a horse. You need ride to town on your horse or ride the bus and you go left to Klines Hardware feed and tack and go to the left one more time and you click on the porch and you drop of the things you need to.
Horses are awsome they can ride u and stuff
It depends where you ride. If you are having lessons at your house then yes you will probably need your own horse. But if you are going to a riding centre then usually you will not need a horse of your own.
They have saddles? If they do, you don't need one to ride your horse. You have to wait until it has two hearts before you can ride it (plus it has to be an adult). I never encountered a saddle. ,':|
