The President can one of three things1. Sign the bill2. Veto the bill3. Do nothing with the bill.Option 3 has two possible effects, depending on whether Congress stays in session for 10 days after sending the bill to the President. If they remain in session, the bill becomes law without the President's signature but if they adjourn before 10 days, the bill dies without the President's signature, just as if he had vetoed it.
