God promised the Israelites that if they followed his laws, then he would let them into the Promised Land.

People with faith in God long to understand and obey his teachings, commands, and will. They seek to live a life in accordance with their religious beliefs and principles.
The first covenant God made with the Israelites, known as the Mosaic Covenant, was not fully obeyed because of the people's disobedience and tendency to worship other gods. Despite God's promises and blessings, the Israelites often strayed from his commandments and turned to idolatry, leading to consequences outlined in the covenant.
It is important to obey God now as in the days of Moses and Joshua.
