The top ten breeds can be hard to name, but first place has been held by one breed since it's development:1st: Thoroughbred: Thoroughbreds can and do sell for multi-million dollar sums.
2nd: European Warmblood breeds (This includes Hanoverians, KWPN's and many others.)
3rd: Standardbreds: These harness racing horses can go for large sums of money.
4th: Quarter horses (This only applies to those that have great show potential and are already high money earning horses.)
5th: Friesians: Many people were awed by this breed and will continue to pay large amounts of money for them.
6th: Gypsy Vanners/ cobs: Also called Tinker horses, they are large bodied cart horses with lots of hair and attractive pinto and appaloosa patterns.
7th-10th: Is essentially any breed of horse that sells for higher than normal amounts of money.

If you know what you are doing, you can do anything you want. You can go on trails, you can do jumping, dressage, barrel racing and other western sports- the possiblities are endless.
