There auctially are not ten. All the lakes have their own sense of clean, because of the boats, and the chemicals added for the plants. So there are many different ways that the US could be cleaning the lakes. For the top one, I heard that there were really clean lakes in Oregon, but I cant remember the name.
Simple answer- the further north you travel and/or the higher the elevation you go the clearer the water will be. Example in northern Michigan you can stand in water over your head so 6 to 8 feet deep and see the bottom, make out rocks etc very clear / clean they would include the Bays in Traverse city, part of Lake Michigan, the Boardman River, Glen Lake, Lake Leelanau, Torch Lake etc. The water up there is like going to a small island, crystal clear water but of course just a little colder -

I dont know the top ten, but I do know some clean lakes; glen lake, torch lake, and I would say the cleanest lake is Klinger lake.
