The Metamora Courthouse (Metamora, IL)
The Black Hawk Statue (Oregon, IL)
The most corrupt politics you've ever seen (Chicago, IL)
A whole crapload of corn (Everywhere, IL)
A river of poo (Ilinois River, IL)
Gang Violence (Chicago, IL)
A Horrible Education System (Chicago, IL)
Two Horrible Baseball Teams (Chicago, IL)
A Football Team that can't play without Jay Cutler (Chicago, IL)

The Big Ten Conferences consists of: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin.
it would depend on what you mean by "major". There are several big universities in the state of Illinois with great academic programs. The most well known state universities are: University of Illinois, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Western Illinois, and Illinois State. You then have private universities such as DePaul, Northwestern, Bradley, and many others. To say which ones are "major" is a difficult task. If you use athletic conference affiliation: 1. Illinois - Big Ten 2. Northwestern - Big Ten 3. DePaul - Big East those would be the three BCS Conference university in Illinois
Saying Machu Picchu ten times is a good answer, but is also incomplete. Add the Nazca lines -- which must be seen close up and as a fly-over -- the Andes, the upper Amazon and you have only just begun.See related links below for more reasons to visit Peru.
