How do you remove the crankshaft bolt so you can install a new timing belt in a 1995 Kia Sephia?

Remove the starter and hold the teeth on the ring gear with a large prybar and get a helper to undo the bolt. Or if you have a impact use that. Remember to put a bit of lok-tite on the threads and torque it to specs when you are done. I am assuming you are chaning a timing belt. Do not hold the engine from turning by the valvetrain, ex. Locking the cams in place and cranking on the crankshaft bolt. Removed starter! remember also to take the battery cables off if you havent already to avoid shorting out the electrical system.
