A coupe is the private cabin available in 1AC and First Class coaches of trains in Indian Railways. They are available in overnight trains and long-distance trains connecting metropolitan cities. 1AC coaches are AC coaches with coupes. First Class coaches are Non-AC coaches with coupes, however these First Class coaches are being phased out these days. Most of the coupes have berth capacity of 4; and at least one private coupe with 2 berth capacity. If you are trying to book private coupes (2 berth) online, note that, it cannot be confirmed until chart preparation. 2-berth coupes are allotted only to couples at the time of chart preparation. 1AC ticket prices are comparable to flight ticket charge.
