Styrofoam has many uses, mainly in the building industry. It is formed in large sheets and blocks of various thicknesses and densities as an insulator
It's probably not the best use for styrofoam because it wouldn't be too strong in the shape of a keyring. It has better uses when it is in big blocks.
Styrofoam sheets have different uses, including pacing and crafting. Many crafting stores carry styrofoam sheets. You can also find from moving supply and office supply shops.

There are many types of styrofoam. The white, bubbly expanded sheets have a very low R rating. The denser extruded styrofoam comes as polystyrene or polyurethane based, in blue or pink sheets. I believe they are 5 and 7 R rated, but all the sheets are marked very prominently with their respective ratings and uses.

This depends on what you are trying to use to dissolve the Styrofoam. Gasoline will dissolve Styrofoam. Water will not.
