It is a hard brightly colored crystal found in Sri Lanka, California and Brazil that is used in electrical products as well as jewelery. It comes in a range of colours with magnesium based tourmaline from brown to yellow and iron based from blue to black. The colour of a tourmaline stone is determined by the elements that are present at the time of the stone being formed. Green is the most common color of toumaline found.
It is a substance that is said to strengthen the immune system and imbue the wearer with positive thoughts. It also said that it can bring good luck if rubbed. Black tourmaline is a natural insecticide and can also reduce the pain of Arthritis due to its elecrtromagnetic properties. The crystals can also promote relaxation and a better quality of sleep.
