Boise is one of the most diverse places for entertainment in the United States. People who like the outdoors will enjoy it the most. There is fishing in the Boise River that runs through the heart of the city and hundreds of places (rivers and lakes) within a three-hour drive. Tubing down the Boise River is a pastime and Idaho has some of the best rapids in the world. The Payette River just out of town is a great place for rafting and kayaking and the famous River of No Return (The Salmon) is about four hours away. There are numerous camping places just an hour outside the city limits.

You can ski and snowboard at Bogus Basin, only an hour outside of Boise with great views of the city. There is also skiing three hours away at Brundage and four hours away at world famous Sun Valley. There are cross country and snowmobile trails just past Idaho City, less than 45 minutes away. There is great hunting for deer, elk, pheasant, quail and other wild animals, again just an hour or less from the city limits.

Boise is one of the greatest walking cities in the U.S. with numerous trails and a very nice Greenbelt along the Boise River. There are also numerous parks throughout the city--Julia Davis and Kathryn Albertson Parks are great. The MK Nature Center on the east part of town features plants and fish native to the area and is highly recommended. The Snake River Canyon is an historic place to explore and the Oregon Trail that Lewis & Clark used to cross the country runs through town. The World Center for Birds of Prey is located near the Canyon as Idaho is one of the great places to view raptors.

Bicycle lanes are numerous throughout town and there are great mountain bike and motorcycle trails in the foothills overlooking Boise. There are also great trails for backpacking throughout Idaho--the Sawtooth mountains are one of the great landmarks of the country and are an absolute must. There you will find spectacular views, pure mountain streams and peace and quiet!

If you like sports, the Boise State Broncos are the most successful football team of the last decade and are also highly entertaining in wrestling, gymnastics, women's soccer and men's and women's tennis. They have had conference championship teams in nearly all of the 17 sports that they sponsor. Boise is also home to the A-League Boise Hawks, the Idaho Steelheads hockey team and the CBA Idaho Stampede. The Snake River Stampede and Caldwell Night Rodeo are just minutes away--Dee Pickett is a world rodeo champion from the area.

There are two main concert venues--Taco Bell Arena and the Idaho Center, intimate venues (the Boise State Morrison Center, the Velma Morrison Center for the Performing Arts, Eagle River Pavilion, the Eagle Winery at the Knoll, the Idaho Center Amphitheatre and "The Knitting Factory") and countless nightclubs and other venues. Boise is home to an art gallery, a zoo, a history museum and the interactive Discovery Center (fun for kids of all ages). Boise has a very good Philharmonic and the Idaho Shakespeare Festival is one of the top Shakespeare venues in the United States. Boise also features the Idaho Ballet Company and plays at Boise Little Theatre, Knock 'Em Dead Theatre and others.

There is a great water theme park (Roaring Springs) and amusement center (Wahooz) about 10 miles away with outrageous fun for all. Wahooz features bumper boats perfect for cooling off, three go kart tracks, two miniature golf courses, batting cages and an arcade.

One of the most successful movie complexes in the United State is Edwards 21 in Boise.

There are more millionaires per capita in Boise than any city in the United States. It is one of the best places to start a business in the U.S. and Boise is constantly rated as one of the best places to live and start a family in the nation.

I am just scratching the surface but there are countless reasons to live and visit in Boise.
