Trust points are primarily used as an indication to other users of how experienced and how trusted you are on WikiAnswers. For example if you see a user with a high number of trust points making an seemingly suspicious edit to an answer, it is most likely a useful edit. However, if you see a user with a low number of trust points deleting answers, it is more likely to be spam.

If it is truly a good answer you do not have to ask for trust points. No. Asking for trust points is not allowed; they are given voluntarily by others, and should not be solicited.

No, however, the more trust points you have, the more you are bound to be trusted - and to get more trust points! To earn trust points, all you need to do is have good quality contributions, and hopefully someone will stumble upon them and give you a trust point!
