For the same amount of conventional fuel such as coal or oil, nuclear fuel releases far more energy, as nuclear power is generated through the splitting of a nucleus rather than by chemical means. Also, no greenhouse gases are produced during a nuclear reaction, meaning nuclear power's contributions towards global warming are negligible, only requiring emissions in transport of materials and other miscellanea.

1) High productivity, small amount of material gives you large energy output (and therefore cost efficient to build a nulcear power plant).

2) No pollution gases released into the atmosphere, no green house effect, no global warming.

Is nuclear energy good for the enviornment?

It is a ... mixed blessing. It won't produce carbon dioxide, and thus it should reduce global heating. However, there is currently no safe way to get rid of the nuclear wastes, which are also quite dangerous. I believe ecologists normally oppose nuclear energy, for this reason. It is a ... mixed blessing. It won't produce carbon dioxide, and thus it should reduce global heating. Is the looseness of outer electrons in metal atoms the reason metal is both good heat conductors and electrical conductors?

They carry energy from one part of the conductor to another.

Why life may come to a standstill and the inconveniences humans can face if there are no energy resources available?

If there's no energy resources available, plants cannot make food and as a result they will die, followed by the animals, then us humans due to starvation. Another reason is that we cannot carry out our daily routine like showering as there are no electricity energy in the heater. We will not be able to use fans and air-cons too. Lastly, if we don't have energy in our bodies, we cannot do almost everything as everything we do burns energy. It's very important to have energy as it is like everything to us. Remember to not waste them too. :) :)

Is solar power good solar power?

yes ofcourse solar power is good in many ways. some good reasons for using solar energy to power your home. 1. Cut-down electricity bill The key reason that most households convert their power source to solar energy is to cut down their electrical bill because the electrical usage generated from the sun is free. By converting as many home appliances as possible to use solar energy, you can save a significant savings in your utilities expenses. 2. It is a renewable energy source Typical electricity is generated from fossil fuel that will run out one day. Solar energy is a good alternative to replace fossil fuel as the major energy source because solar power is renewable at absolutely no cost to supply energy infinitely. 3. Environment friendly The world pollution is getting worse. Any effort that can reduce the pollution to the environment helps to save the earth. Solar panels are able to harness the energy from the sun and convert it to electricity. Therefore, the use of solar panels is environment friendly. Therefore, solar energy that is harmless to the environment will be the major energy source for future - starting today. 4. Low / no maintenance needed Once you have installed the solar power system, it can last twenty to thirty years without major maintenance needed. You may need to do system check once a year, just to make sure everything is performing as it should. Since it requires very minimum maintenance cost, your cost should be minimal.

Does salt water conduct electricity?

Salt water is a pretty good conductor of electricity. Its not as good as a metal but still is far from being an insulator. Pure water does not conduct electricity well at all. The reason salt water conducts electricity is because the NaCl (sodium chloride, aka table salt) breaks apart into a positively charged Na+ and a negatively charged Chlorine Cl-. When voltage is applied, the charged ions feel the force of the electric field created and they move. Instead of electrons then, the current is the moving ions. The more salt you put into the water, the better it conducts electricity. (Pure water is actually and poor conductor because the only ions it has are the residual H+ and OH- that form in neutral water and are the reason we say water has a pH of 7.)

What is nuclear energy prohibitive?

The term "nuclear energy prohibitive" means nuclear energy cannot be used. The exact reason depends on circumstances, but, in most cases, the problem is that nuclear power plant's output is constant, so, for example, if a nuclear plant powers a city, you need to divert excess power at night, when that city's consumption goes down. Hence, municipal electricity is nuclear energy prohibitive.

Where is the nuclear energy used the most and why?

The USA uses the most nuclear energy. There is the highest number of Nuclear Power Plants in the world. The reason is simple: USA needs energy and the easiest way to get it is building nuclear power plants.

Why do save electricity?

In this context, to save electricity is "not to use it" rather than to "save it somewhere safe". The primary reason for consumers is that by not using electricity, you will not have to pay for it. The secondary reason is that if we, as consumers, use less electricity then the suppliers will not have to produce so much either which, in turn, means that less greenhouse gases will be produced at electricity generating stations.

Why is electricity commonly used as source of energy in urban areas?

Electricity is not exactly the source; it is the way energy is transported. The reason electricity is used is because it is an easy way to transport energy from one place to another.

Is France invironmentally friendly?

France is one of the "greenest" country in the world. One of the reason is the use of nuclear power to make electricity.

Why is most of the energy used by humans in the form of electricity PLEASE HELP?

The main reason is that electricity is easy to transfer from one place to another, and to convert to other types of energy.

How and where is nuclear energy stored?

Nuclear energy appears as heat, and it is not practicable to store this heat, it has to be used to produce electricity. You could regard the new nuclear fuel as a store, the nuclear energy is there, just waiting to be released, and it would be practicable to stockpile fuel to be used if supplies of uranium were interrupted for some reason. I am not sure how much fuel is in fact stockpiled by the power companies that own power plants, but it would be possible for the federal government to pay to store more, if they wanted to.

How effective is nuclear energy?

The reason nuclear energy is most efficient today is, because with little it can create a hundred times more. For instance, Japan's entire economy is constructed on nuclear energy. Even if they have suffered, because of some inconveniences, before that they use to be the leading economical giant. In general nuclear energy is the most efficient resource on the planet, right now.

If Nuclear fission is used to produce electricity why isn?

Because people want to harm the earth they don't care for some reason

Why India need nuclear power plan?

The same reason as the other countries that have nuclear power plans. Firstly to show off power. The other reason : Fear. Not even for energy generation, nuclear capability is justified due to the high risk that nuclear power plants represent.

What are two reasons that people don't use nuclear fusion as a energy source?

One good reason-it has not been made to work yet! We do of course use solar energy which is produced by nuclear fusion
