Physical Geography involves the study of the processes and spatial patterns of the natural world which can be broken down into four focus areas: Atmosphere (air), Lithosphere (ground), Hydrosphere (water) and Biosphere (biological organisms).
There are five categories of sub-fields in Physical Geography:
- Geomorphology (earth's form and structure)
- Hydrology (study of all water on earth)
- Climatology (study of weather and its patterns)
- Biogeography (study of animals and plants)
- Pedology (the study of soils)
Human Geography is focused on the study of people, cultures, and populations in relationship to the environment.
