Find the option in the list named (Hide extensions for known file types) and uncheck the box beside it. Click Apply. This method should work for Windows Vista, 7, and 8. In the older versions of Windows XP, 2000, ME, 98, 95 ect this was much simpler you just clicked Tools then Folder Options to do the same thing.
