I believe that they are portions of the kidneys and liver, however I could be wrong, because I know that your entire liver can regenerate itself from just a section. Oh, and I believe that you also can live on just one lung, but it has to work twice as hard because it is doing the work for two.

Improved Answer: The human body can also function without the gallbladder, appendix, portions of the large and small bowel and portions of the brain. However, it is when organs such as the gallbladder, appendix, or a single kidney are removed that we are of highest function. Removal of other organs can cause serious conditions and side effects. So while you might continue to live, you often don't live well.

First, they remove the organs and take the brain out through the nose. After that they cut the body open and take out all the organs except for the heart,(they keep the heart in the body because they believe that they need the heart to live in the after-life) Once the internal organs are taken out of the body a special kind of salt called natron was stuffed in the mummys cut to dry the body out, they also cover the body with natron; They let the body sit there for at least 40 days. After that they rap the body with rolls of linen. if this helped, look at my youtube page! http://www.youtube.com/user/jsuccar562
