Two ways people use energy from the sun today are through the food we eat, and for electric energy. With regard to the food we eat: the sun provides the energy that makes life possible, providing all the plants and animals we eat in the process. While the sun has always provided the energy for our food, it has recently provided electric energy through photovoltaics. This technology takes advantage of energy from the sun and converts it to electricity.
