Do you have to be a scout to be a sea scout?

The simple answer is no, but it might be different for various groups. Sea Scouting is a division of the Boy Scouts of America. If someone joins Sea Scouting, then they have become a Venturer. It is not necessary to have experience in Boy Scouts or had to have been a Boy Scout to join Venturing and become part of a Sea Scouting Ship. All Venturing programs are open to both male and female members.

Why did Boy Scouts let girls in?

Technically "The Boy Scouts" [as in Boy Scouts of America] have not let girls in. Girls cannot be Boy Scouts and they cannot earn ranks such as Eagle Scout. Venturing is a coed older program of the Boy Scouts of America. While it officially started in 1998, it split of from Exploring, keeping the traditional Scouting areas of Outdoors, Sea Scouts, Hobbies, Sports, and Religious in Venturing. Sea Scouts is the second oldest program in the BSA, starting in 1912, and falls under Venturing. See the Related Link below. - - - The above is true for Boy Scouts of America, however, around the world, the trend has been toward co-educational scouting programs since 1970. In the United Kingdom, the Scout Association has been co-educational at all levels since 1991. As to why, the World Organization of the Scouting Movement says that since mixed gender relationships are becoming socially acceptable, especially in school and professional life, Scouting has a role to play in helping young people prepare for that mixed social environment and are encouraging National Scout Associations to use a co-educational approach. - - -

What are the rules on bringing girls to Boy Scout campouts?

To my knowledge, girls (youth under 18) are not allowed in Boy Scouts, at least in the US. Women as adult leaders (over 18) need to be registered (just like men) and there must be adequate sleeping/changing arrangements. The Boy Scouts also has a Venturing program that is coed for ages 14 to 21. Search BSA Venturing in your favorite search engine for more information.

Will girls be allowed to join Boy Scouts?

Girls age 14 - 21 CAN join special Boy Scout units called Venture Crews. Venture is a co-ed program for young men and women involving exciting new experiences like sailing, high adventure, and peer mentoring. For more information, see Venture link in related links.in a recent supreme court case, girls can join, the ruling was 5 to 4Girls should not be allowed to join boy scouts. If they are allowed the name should be changed so everybody can be aware. Its not fair that girls can join some boy scout group but guys cant join girls scouts at all. No surprise there as girls are always given more options and sympathy

What is a group of Scouts called?

Boy Scouts are organized into groups of eight called patrols. One or more patrols are organized as a troop. Troops are organized into administrative groups called councils. Large gatherings of many troops are called camporees or jamborees. The most basic group in Boy Scouts is the patrol. One or more patrols in turn make up a troop. The patrol, however, should be the most important group with whom the scout associates himself.

Can girl scouts join boy scouts?

Yes, depending on the Scouting Association. The World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) allows both boys and girls to be members and encourages its member Scouting Associations to open their membership to girls. Canada, Australia, and Great Britain are amongst some of the first world nations to offer Scouting to all young people. As for Boy Scouts of America (BSA), their policies are that girls may not join Cub Scouting or Boy Scouting but may join Venturing and Sea Scouting.
