At five years old you are protected against being murdered. Because you were born alive, you are protected as a person under the law. You are still legally an infant until you are eighteen. This means that the law presumes that you are unable to make your own decisions as your life experience is insufficient to give you good judgement. The law also assumes you need to have a parent or guardian make your decisions for you. The law will give assign you a guardian if no one comes forward in the absence of a parent. If you are lucky, you will have parents who love each other and love you enough to make wise divisions for you so that you will increase in wisdom enough that you will make good choices when you are eighteen. If you are smart, you will still rely on parents' wisdom by listening to them. No matter how old you are, your mom and dad will always be your mom and dad. Absent a parent, hope you are lucky enough to have an adult to fill that position.
